I heard Cole REIT is going to offer a new REIT that will specialize in office and industrial real estate. With acquisitions like the Bing headquarters it looks like they are already headed in the right direction.

Comment on House rents could increase by 15% in 2010 : Study – Kuwait Times by Farah Al-Essa

Dear All,

Kuwait Times misquoted Markaz’s research in the article published yesterday, the 29th of December 2009, titled “House Rents could increase by 15% in 2010 : Study”, we would like to reply to some inaccurate points mentioned there:

1. Our study forecasts a 5% fall in apartment rentals during 2010 contrary to what was reported in the article.

2. We had forecasted that the prices of private residential land plots would rise up to 10% during 2010, and this does not refer to apartments targeting expats. The private residential segment
specifically refers to the housing market targeting the Kuwaitis and it would have no impact on the expatriates in Kuwait.

3. Moreover, the article attributes this statement to Markaz “the expected economic recovery to be made in 2010 could intensify the demand for apartments, thereby leading to increased rents”, but we have neither written nor stated anything of that sort.

We would like to correct this error for the benefit of
the readers. The full report can be downloaded here http://bit.ly/70D4Rq.
